More than twelve years ago, I would never have imagined that a personal wellness routine would evolve into a trusted local brand. What started as a simple search for whole foods and supplements has evolved into thriving spaces for holistic living, wholesome eating and intentional choices. With two award-winning restaurants and two trusted retail stores, we support everyone’s unique journey to well-being. Whether you are stopping in for a smoothie, buying vitamins for the first time, or looking for a thoughtful gift, we have grown into a community destination that supports healthy living in all its forms.
I came to Grand Cayman to slow down. I left the bustle of an urban lifestyle behind to embrace the unhurried pace and natural beauty of the Caribbean. I planned to work in hospitality and enjoy the beaches. But not long after arriving, I realised there were limited options for healthy food and wellness products, especially for a vegetarian. Whether it was late at night or mid-afternoon, I couldn’t find what I needed to support how I wanted to feel.
As someone who wanted to prioritise health, I started ordering supplements and superfoods from overseas. I read every label, double-checked the ingredients, and slowly stocked my kitchen with the things I trusted. That attention to detail, researching so others don’t have to, remains one of the guiding principles of Island Naturals today.
Eventually, it became clear that if I was struggling to find these resources, other people probably were too.
That’s how Island Naturals started. No business plan, no roadmap. Just a real need to make wellness more accessible.
Getting started wasn’t easy. I was still bartending full-time, saving every dollar, researching wellness products, ingredients and brands in my spare time. The first move was opening what is now the original Island Naturals Wellness Store. At the time, it was one of the only places on the island offering a reliable selection of supplements, vitamins, eco-friendly household products, natural skincare and healthy snacks.
The goal wasn’t to make money; it was to make better choices more accessible for everyone.
Next came the café. I wanted a place where healthy food didn’t feel like a compromise. One night, while working behind the bar, I shared the idea with a customer. He believed in it and left me a $1,000 tip that covered the café’s first rent payment. It was the push I needed to move forward.
12 years later, we’ve grown into two award-winning hospitality locations: Island Naturals Café and The Restaurant at The Grove, as well as offering corporate catering throughout the island. But the mission hasn’t changed. We still aim to make healthy food approachable, enjoyable and part of everyday life.
We are proud to be recognised as a leading Cayman Islands restaurant group focused on healthy eating and overall well-being. We have been awarded Best Breakfast and Best Outdoor Cocktails, as well as being voted Best Vegetarian and Vegan Restaurant in Grand Cayman for two years in a row.
Along with our freshly-squeezed juices that are made in-house every day, we are best known for our açaí bowls, salads, smoothies and wraps. Our coffee, now a go-to in the community, is crafted with the same integrity we bring to everything we do. The signature roast is exclusively available in our restaurants. Whether you are grabbing a quick coffee, fuelling up after a paddleboard session on Seven Mile Beach or stopping in for lunch with friends, there is something for everyone.
As the business grew, we focused on expanding in a way that made sense, keeping wellness, balance and intention at the centre. That is how Collections came to life. It was about spotting a need for wellness products and offering tools and experiences that support the mind, body and soul.
Collections is a curated retail space with home goods, crystals, intentional gifts, essential oils, and everyday items that support energy, well-being and balanced mental health. It’s another way to help people bring conscious choices into their daily routines.
Between the café, restaurant at The Grove and retail stores, Island Naturals has grown into a trusted wellness destination in the Cayman Islands. Some visit for their daily supplements, home goods or thoughtful gifts. Others come to enjoy a healthy meal or browse clean skincare. For many, they are spaces to feel supported, informed and genuinely welcomed, regardless of where they are in their wellness journey.
Looking back, I am proud not just of what we have built, but of the people who made it possible. What has inspired us every day has been the local community, honest feedback, partnerships and the shared commitment to better health.
As a young female entrepreneur, being acknowledged as Entrepreneur of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce was an honour. However, to me, the most meaningful part has always been the connections that Island Naturals has helped to build. Seeing familiar faces and watching this community grow more confident in how they care for themselves is what I am most grateful for.
We never set out to win awards. The goal was always to meet a genuine need. Across the Caribbean, from Barbados to the Dominican Republic, within luxury resorts and in local communities, there is a growing awareness around health, sustainability and what we put in and on our bodies. There is also an ever-growing need to cater for everyone regardless of their dietary choices or restrictions. Whether plant-based, gluten-free, keto or dairy-free, our role is to make those better choices feel natural, approachable and part of everyday life. Whether you’re local and come to Island Naturals Cafe every morning for your coffee or are a celebrity visiting the island and dining at the restaurant, what we offer and how we offer it is the same.
So what’s next? We’re always learning and trying to improve, so that we can better support the wellness of our community.
Island Naturals will always be a place to find nourishing food, trusted supplements and thoughtful products that support wellness. Whether you’ve been with us from the beginning or just discovered us for the first time, thank you for being part of the journey. There’s so much more to come.
