As a public authority, the Cayman Islands National Weather Service (CINWS) is committed to openness, transparency, and serving the public interest in accordance with the Freedom of Information Law, 2007.

The Freedom of Information (FOI) Law was passed on 19 October 2007 and came into effect in January 2009. It provides the public with a right of access to records held by public authorities, subject to certain exemptions defined within the Law.
